Training Needs Analysis

The Training Needs Module enables you to maintain a record of Employee Training Needs however identified – from Needs Survey, Team Review, from Appraisals, Line Manager requests or CPD Plans - and use these to help you plan and organise appropriate training and learning to meet them. With its matching facility to course bookings identified needs can be matched to available learning events. Also track unsatisfied training needs!

Evaluation of Training and Learning

To what extent did the course meet your expectations? How highly would you rate the pre-course information? How highly would you rate the skills of the trainer? How highly would you rate the listening skills of the trainer? What mark out of 10 would you give the course materials? To what extent have you developed skills, which will help in your job? The Training Evaluation Module allows you to set up your own training evaluation questionnaires, with unlimited questions, and response types. Delegate response can be for named delegates, anonymous returns or summary only. OMR can also be used to reduce data capture costs.

Appraisal and Review Management

Provide a list of all Appraisal Meetings that have happened so far this year? How is this looking for different types of staff or department or division? What training needs are being thrown up by the appraisals? These are just some of the questions that are readily answered with the use of the Appraisal Module.

The Module allows the user to record a range of appraisal meetings from Initial Focus or Agenda Setting Meetings, Assessments, Task Observations through formal Appraisal Interviews to Follow Up Monitoring and Review Meetings as they happen. 360 Degree Review is available. Dates, Time, and those involved can all be logged and importantly agreed Appraisal, Training and CPD Targets and Outcomes can be recorded, and matched to available or planned training.

SDMS Web e-Appraisal supports this with Employee and Manager Self Serve On Line.

Devolved Training Management - Administrator Line Manager Access

Do you want to devolve staff development management to Line Managers and Departments to create ownership of the organisations training processes? Perhaps you want to implement it corporately with different departments managing their own training but also sharing courses and resources without using the web. With SDMS V Training Administration Access Module, Team or Department.

Administrators can be given different levels of access so that they can only see or amend information about the Staff they manage, while at the same time being able to enrol them on Courses and see what training is on offer across the whole Organisation.

CPD Planner

For organisations that centre their staff development and learning on Continuous Professional Development; the CPD Planner provides a framework to hold a record of these plans and like the training needs module; match them against available course opportunities.

IIP Training Planner

The Training Planner Module allows you to develop and prepare overall training plans setting out what types of training, training courses, workshops, skills, qualifications and competencies will support the achievement of your business plan.

Within the plan qualifications required or specific employee competencies can be described. In turn, each element of the training plan can be applied to departments, types of staff, particular posts or named individuals. Reports allow the training planned to be mapped against training delivered.

NVQ Record Manager

SDMS V Staff Development has extensive features for recording and managing competencies and qualifications. The NVQ Manager Module provides a simply easy to use tool to track NVQ registrations, qualifications and candidate progress It supports the key administration tasks for NVQs.

Where more extensive NVQ management is required a SDMS V QCF/NVQ Learning and Skills for Windows offers even more features including Portfolio and Assessment Management and Laptop Assessor.

Governor Record - LEAs and Children's Services Only

The Governor Record is part of the standard LEA and Children’s Services Edition and helps users maintain the additional specific information for School Governors and prospective Governors. It also holds a profile of the School governing body, including the number of Governors required, the type of Governor position and vacancies. The management of Governor training is part of the standard product.

e-Training for Web and Intranet Access

Extend the reach of SDMS to the web or your intranet - Courses and learning planned, set up, scheduled and programmed with the “back office” features of SDMS V Staff Development are available seamlessly and dynamically to any authorised web user. Courses offered can be browsed by anyone with access to the site with On Line Registration. Administrator, Trainer, Line Manager self serve and Employee Self Serve are available in a fully user definable system.

Integration with Corporate Systems, Payroll and HR

SDMS e-SD.Net Web Access is low cost web data driven access point for staff development and learning. It can be embedded in your existing website and learning portals. National Minimum Data Set

NMDS and Qualifications Framework Modules for Social Care provide a complete solution for assembling and managing the National Minimum Data Set. Employee and Organisational NMDS Requirements are met with integration tools to import data into the SDMS NMDS repository where it is held on other corporate systems such as payroll and HR. Data Export to Skills for Care Bulk Upload is supported.

QCF/NVQ Learning and Skills

Fully integrated with SDMS V Staff Development QCF/NVQ Learning and Skills for Windows provides a complete system for the management and administration of National Vocational Qualifications within the QCF/NVQ framework. It allows you to manage every stage of the QCF/NVQ learning process from initial registration, through achievement of each unit, to receipt of the award and certificate. Its portfolio management features allow you to operate “paperless” QCF/NVQs whether on the server product or the optional Laptop Assessor Module.

Adviser and School Support

Advisory and School Support services can be more effectively managed with the software’s individual Adviser or Advisory School Visit Record. A simple and easy to use diary allows dates and times of Schools Visits to be logged. At-a-glance calendar views bring you immediately up-to-date on diary commitments. Simple reports of Schools’ Visits can be recorded – with optional School Assessments; with a full assessment and School Status History. Extensive details of service level agreements and contracts with schools are held and can be monitored against services provided. This product is fully integrated with SDMS V Staff Development.

Recruitment and Selection

Similarly, this is fully integrated with SDMS V Staff Development for employee recruitment and selection. Covering all aspects of the recruitment process it reduces the administrative costs and delays often associated with recruitment, allowing you more time to ensure that the best recruitment decisions are made and the right employees stay with you longer! Recruitment Administration Checklists, Reminders and Alarms, Quick Administrators and Business Rules built into the software ensure that deadlines and tasks are never forgotten.

Training Payments

While entering costs of training into the SDMS V Staff Development cost screens an option is available to enter details for Order Number, Batch Number, Supplier’s Invoice Number and a description of any of the items making up the cost. These then automatically appear in the order management facilities.

Crystal Reports

Crystal Report™ Writer integrated with SDMS Software and supported by SDMS Staff. Users can produce a range of ad hoc reports - columnar, form style, drill down reports, simple lists with totals, labels, in a style and format to your needs.

Sage 50 HR 2007 Easy Link

A special module for SDMS Users who also use Sage 50 HR 2007 providing integration between the two systems. It is an easy link of Staff Details, Training Records, Qualifications and Appraisals managed within SDMS for use in Sage 50 HR.

Training Revenues

SDMS V Revenue Manager allows the user, when enrolling delegates, to enter whether they are a fee payer or not and at what fee band they should be charged. Delegate name, the organisation the belong to if appropriate, whether they are accepted for the course and details of attendance can all be held. Banded fees can be defined and block bookings managed. Details entered during delegate enrolment automatically appear in the invoice management option.

HESA Staff Record Module

The HESA Staff Module is kept up to date with the changes introduced by Higher Education Statistics Agency and updates are included free of charge within the annual support contracts for the module of SDMS V HRPersonnel. It is supported by free On Line Briefings and remote Upgrade Installation.
